BRC is affiliated with the University of Mumbai to offer an MA by Research program in Philosophy under the Faculty of Arts.

About the Program

Students aspiring to deepen their understanding of Philosophy can apply to BRC’s MA by Research program. The course is designed to nurture independent thinking and advanced scholarship, encouraging students to select a research area of their choice within the field of Philosophy. Through rigorous study, critical analysis, and dedicated mentorship, students will produce a thesis that not only demonstrates their academic abilities but also contributes meaningfully to philosophical discourse and research.

Note: The entire process, from topic submission to registration, may take 6 months to 1 year. During this time, students can continue their research, which will be counted as part of the program duration.

Course Work

The MA by Research program does not require students to complete coursework. However, BRC encourages students to take certain core courses, such as Research Methodology, when offered by the institution.

Location: Courses are conducted in Govardhan Eco Village. Students unable to attend in person are expected to participate online.

Research Proposal

  • Students are required to prepare a research proposal.
  • The proposal should follow the standard format required by the University of Mumbai. This format will be provided once the student approaches us.
  • The research topic must be within the field of Philosophy and aligned with research methods in the discipline of Philosophy.

Thesis Submission

Final Milestone

Complete your academic journey with thesis submission

  • Students can begin writing their thesis after submitting their research proposal.
  • The University of Mumbai will review and approve or reject the proposal, which may take some time.
  • Once the proposal is approved and the student is registered with the University of Mumbai, the student can submit his/her thesis in a year’s time.

Dr. Manali Londhe

Dr. Londhe is an Associate Professor in Philosophy at S.K. Somaiya College in 1996. She is also currently holding a post of In charge principal, S.K. Somaiya College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Vidyavihar, Mumbai. She has completed her masters degree in Philosophy from University of Mumbai followed by a doctoral degree in the same discipline. She has published various books and articles in journals of both national and international repute. She is currently a life member of various institutes and has been a volunteer at different social institutions.

Dr. Thanigaimalai Thirumalai

Dr. Thirumalai is currently an Adjunct professor in the department of Philosophy at J.J.T. University Rajasthan. He completed his Ph.D in the department of Philosophy at University of Mumbai in the year 2008. His dissertation topic was “The concept of Consciousness in Vedanta in the Light of Contemporary Developments in Consciousness Studies”. He has published various books and articles.
